Alison originally trained as a nurse at St Thomas’ Hospital in London and worked in a number of hospital and community settings where she became interested in women’s and children’s health. She then qualified and worked as a Health Visitor in London for two years whilst completing a master’s degree in health policy. Following a break to live in Germany and raise her two sons she became interested in the potential complementary therapies have to improve health, and trained as a Craniosacral Therapist in 2001 (a two year diploma course) and as an Acupuncturist (a three and a half year degree course) at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading in 2008. Throughout this time she was also studying and teaching Tai Chi/Qigong with Raymond Towers, founder of the UKTQF.
She has experience of treating all ages from birth to 95 and uses her knowledge of Western and Chinese medicine to help clients find the best way to good health. She is always willing to discuss with clients which therapy would be best suited to them, and how it might help.
She is fully insured and registered with Bracknell Forest Council to carry out the practice of acupuncture. She is registered with the British Acupuncture Council and regularly updates her skills through supervision and CPD as well as ongoing training in Tai Chi/Qigong.
She also works at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading as a Clinical Supervisor, Chinese Medicine Lecturer and Practical Skills Tutor.
She has completed post graduate courses in Japanese paediatric techniques, Meridian Therapy and Dr Manaka’s yin/yang system with Dr Stephen Birch.
